Swatava Raksha
Directed by: Condon House
May 5th 2011 was a red
letter day for Condon House
as the play based on Munshi
Premchand's story "Swatava
Raksha" went on to be
adjudged worthy of attaining
the first position in the
first ever Inter-House Hindi
Play.
The story depicted the
wedding of Munshi Saudagar
Lal's son, who was unable to
arrange a palanquin to carry
the groom to the railway
station. He decided to take
help from his friend Mir
Dilawar Ali, who owned a
"talking" horse.
Dilawar Ali was ready to
lend the horse, but the
horse would not move a step
on "Jemme Raat". The Groom's
party tried to make the
horse move in different ways
to no avail.
Finally, with the assistance
of Mulla Nasir-Ud-Din, who
was dragged out from the
depths of the ages - a
solution was found. The
unexpected solution had the
audience enthralled and the
gymnasium ringing in long
and well deserved applause
for the hard work put in by
the Condonites.
