125th Founders' Day
Venue : Sir Kirby
Laing Auditorium
Guest of Honour : Mr Lionel Connor (an alumnus of the school)
Founders’ Day is a very
important day in the school
calendar.
We gather to focus
on and celebrate the vision
of great men and women that
materialized in 1888 and
continues to be nurtured and
strengthened by the tireless
efforts of those who took on
the mantle from them. The
Guests of honour for this
occasion was
Mr Lionel Connor, an alumnus
of the school. After the opening prayer by Rev. Eric Templeton the congregation sang the hymn "Standing on the Promises of Christ My King.....", the Junior School Choir sang their anthem "He Walks Beside Me...." followed by a Bible reading by the Girls' Captain. The senior School Choir sang "God will make a way". The 125th founders' day cake was cut by Mr Phillip Root in place of Mr Lionel Connor who unfortunately fell ill that day and could not attend the ceremony.
After the Founders' Day service a small yet important ceremony was held outside the staff room area to dedicate the academic block in memory of Mr Phillips, former Principal and Chairman of the Board of Management. The plaque was unveiled by Mrs A. Phillips.
